Restylane is a clear, non-animal-based, biodegradable gel that is composed of hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally already occurring in the body. Originally developed in Sweden, Restylane is now sold and administered in the United States due to popular demand. As Restylane is created from tissue cultivated in a laboratory, it is a very safe alternative for those patients with sensitivities or allergies to animal-based fillers.

Results & Recovery

As Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the human body, it will be absorbed back into the body over time, and the results of Restylane will fade. However, Restylane treatment typically lasts longer than other cosmetic fillers, and re-treatment may not be needed for up to 12 months after initial treatment.

Some patients may experience some bruising and swelling shortly following their Restylane treatment. This bruising and swelling is temporary and will usually subside within 48 hours. The final result is a refreshed and more youthful appearance.
